September 23, 2008 at 8:55 amI looked at the link. Great images. I then looked up the camera and all I could find about the movie mode was that it was 1080P and recorded to .mov, but no mention of the record codec? Do you know what it was?
Really impressive for a cheap camera.

What gets me about the link to the footage, while it looks very very nice, it says that the footage was not manipulated in any way. There has to be color correction on that.

I found a review online that mentioned this camera as well, but claimed the Canon was superior, particularly that the Nikon had exposure flutter on panned shots if left in auto exposure.
Of main interest to me was the claim that the files off the camera could be dropped straight into an FCP sequence without conversion like P2 & XDcam as they were H.264 mov files.

September 24, 2008 at 11:04 amAmazing. We will end up shooting 4k with an ice-cream. The formats race have started. if you haven’t bought your camera yet, Remember when it was Betacam or Betacam or Betacam?do it now. Soon will be difficult to decide which one to buy.

But H264 haven’t proved very FC friendly yet. Anyway no long ago FC could not manage MPG2 and things have really changed.

PS: A bit of CC have been done, don’t thik so? -

September 24, 2008 at 5:08 pmAlso looks like the camera only records at 30fps… That seems really outdated to me.. I mean you’d actually be able to get better performance recording at 24fps because it’s less frames that would have to be written… plus it would look & feel a lot better (for those of us who still like the look of film)

September 24, 2008 at 7:29 pmH264 is not an editing codec, some kind of transcoding would have to be done.
Have a wonderful day.
