    the only thing i would add, would be make sure ae has correctly separated fields for the 1080i footage before before rendering.

    to do this, simply select the footage in the project window and choose file>interpret footage>main… make sure that ae is set to separate fields. if it’s not, then choose the correct field order (upper or lower).

    if you are unsure of the filed order, pick one, then close the settings window and option/alt double click the footage in the project window and use the page up/down keys to advance thru the footage. if it looks good then you have the right settings, if it looks odd, then you need to change the settings. you may also want to check the ‘preserve edges’ option in the interpret footage settings.
