    Hello,
I’ve searched for this and don’t seem to have anyone bringing it up. I have a show shot in DVCPROHD 720p at 30p over 59.94. I also have 1080i HDV footage that’s b-roll that someone else shot.

What I want to do is have the 1080i footage match the 720p footage as closely as possible while cutting in a 720p 59.94 timeline (since that is our delivery format). I can get this by applying a deinterlacing filter to the 1080i footage… but this only really works in a 1080i 29.97 timeline.

The problem is that FCP’s deinterlacing filter seems to not really be that effective when deinterlacing 29.97 footage in a 59.94 timeline. It looks pretty much the same, with that smooth video movement that interlaced 29.97 footage has. What I think it’s doing is doubling the lines of EVERY FIELD and turning each field into a frame to make a 59.94 timeline. Is this correct?

Does anyone know how to get 1080i footage to actually look 30p in a 720p 59.94 timeline? The last resort is deinterlacing the 1080i footage separately, exporting it, then re-importing it, but that’s a step I’d like to avoid.
    thanks
