1080i Capture Problem with Sony HVR-Z1U and PP2
Help. My device is connected… PP2 has control of the HVR-Z1U– I can play, rewind, stop through PP2 but no HDV video is coming through and the capture window says the device is OFFLINE. When I switch to dv capture mode in the settings window video comes through but that doesn’t help. I shot 1080i and I need to capture 1080i. I’ve never had an HDV capture problem at 720P with my trusty JVC GY-HD110. This is the first time however that I’ve tried to capture 1080i with this Sony HVR-Z1U. Any help would keep me from jumping off a bridge. Thanks

If the DV capture mode on the PC works, then the camera is set wrong for HDV capture. The little LED above the firewire connection should be lit for HDV, not DV. The CONV should be turned off. Use Sony & Standard for your PC settings.

Thanks Steven… I had all the settings correct EXCEPT…I had been doing some down converting last week and never switched it off. Thanks for the help!
