1080i 59.94 footage coming in stuttery and unable to play down
I am working in an Media Composer 23.98p NTSC project, and there’s one tape shot at 1080i 59.94 with the purpose of slowing it down. I’m not sure if this was a good idea, but no matter…now I need to convert it.
So I’m bringing it in to Final Cut through a Kona AJA KLhi box from a JH3 deck. I was planning to lay it off from a 23.98 sequence. It’s going out from the deck HD-SDI and into what is labeled SDI but I assume is HD-SDI. I’m getting a perfectly clear video signal and audio BUT: There is this terrible stutter on playback that makes this unwatchable. Also the signal freezes often on playback. What am I doing wrong?? The capture setting is 1080i 29.97, and the deck frequency is the same. Is the SDI in the problem? The deck doesn’t have an HDMI output, which means I can’t bring it in that way.
Any thoughts?
