FWIW – FCP X 10.0.4 appears to have broken MB Looks and Sapphire Edge. Performance is awful. In both filters’ own interfaces the FCP X reference frame appears upside down.

The ts files that Compressor spits out for HTTP streaming are reference files that links to a series of .mp4 and .m4a files at various bitrates. It isn’t muxed.

Compressor has always been rather thin (useless, even?) when it comes to transcoding for broadcast delivery (Cable Labs, etc).

I’ve queried the following before in heat and anger when I badly wanted to slap Apple, but let’s say, given that in my heart of hearts I dreamt that they were going to re-configure FCPX into something that could get past the gullet of the industry – nevertheless –

my question then and now is – are Apple, do Apple actually have the ability to put this kind of stuff out anymore? They fired a lot of critical people didn’t they? Weren’t there tweets from elder FCP Gods bidding farewell to core staff in 2010 that Apple claimed were non-essential?

Isn’t there a case to be made that whatever is left of the in-house skill set might not be fit for purpose?

That aside – given the precarious circumstances, I find it amazing that MB looks and Sapphire are after getting randomly busted. That’s a mess.

FX Factory 3.0.2 also seems to crash 10.0.4..but had this problem in a previous update and per Idustrial Revolution tech support – went into FXFACTORY preferences and hit the clean up all Motion Templates button — did that again in this update and that seemed to fix the crashing – for now —

Still can’t export a section of the timeline
Audio controls are still a 10 year leap backward (no audio mixing? Keyframing every audio adjustment? in 2012?)

Bring on a low cost Smoke or PPro CS 6 Stat!

OK for me. But the more I play with filters in X, the more I hate it. Once you go past the internal plug-ins (which are very smooth) and some of the Motion template customs that aren’t too taxing, it falls off a cliff. When I compare with Avid AVX, After Effects, Premiere CS5.5 or FCP 7, X is possibly the worst current API for third party filters at the moment in any NLE.
