April 11, 2012 at 2:59 am[Andrew Richards] “The ts files that Compressor spits out for HTTP streaming are reference files that links to a series of .mp4 and .m4a files at various bitrates. It isn’t muxed.”
You mean with Job Action Prepare for HTTP Live streaming. True those are ts in the Segments folder but I’m thinking TS for Broadcast use. Maybe I should clarify.
[Andrew Richards] “Compressor has always been rather thin (useless, even?) when it comes to transcoding for broadcast delivery (Cable Labs, etc).”
Yes, this is what I’m referring to that Compressor is missing in that area as well as “higher end” H.264 controls.

April 11, 2012 at 4:27 am[Oliver Peters] “X is possibly the worst current API for third party filters at the moment in any NLE.”
Is it an API or dim channel markers on a foggy night?

Hi
Others left as well – Bertrand Serlet left Apple. Wednesday, March 23, 2011….
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd97us27eSgDid he just leave or was he ‘pushed’ by the changing ethos inside Apple?

April 11, 2012 at 1:05 pmWhat great timing, I just finished a clean install of Lion and all my apps, plugins etc. then came to browse the COW afterward. I didn’t even notice that it was 10.0.4 during installation and I don’t have any unfinished projects in FCPX to worry about updating. Perfect!
I installed both FCPX and 7 (with my preferred method of X, Motion 5 & Compressor 4 first. Move them to a new folder in Applications, then install FCS 3 to the default location). I noticed that Motion 4 project file thumbnails are showing up in Finder and that quick look works as well. Motion 5 project files still show “Media Missing” as before. Was this always the case? I didn’t think either Motion 4 or 5 projects files were showing thumbnails or quick look before (when both versions are installed, of course). If this is something that was “fixed” in the Motion 5 update, I would have thought that it would fix Motion 5 projects not Motion 4…

April 11, 2012 at 1:09 pmBTW – in case it hasn’t been obvious, each of these updates is NOT backwards compatible with previous versions of the app. So once projects are updates, I don’t believe you can open them in a previous version (although I haven’t tested).
One colleague of mine is also reporting crashed with the NVIDIA Quadro 4000 card due to conflicts.

April 11, 2012 at 1:13 pm[Oliver Peters] “FWIW – FCP X 10.0.4 appears to have broken MB Looks and Sapphire Edge. Performance is awful. In both filters’ own interfaces the FCP X reference frame appears upside down.”
I received confirmation of these issues from both GenArts and RGS, so look for updates from them soon.

April 12, 2012 at 6:06 pmSo what are inspector units? I was looking in the inspector and didn’t see any changes. Is it something to do with the timeline?

The x,y values are now in pixels OR percentages, when before they were in decimal percentages.
Frankly, it sucked.

April 12, 2012 at 6:15 pmOh, man, yeah, I see it now. X,Y or bust! Percentages was crazy. Thanks for pointing it out.
