10 min Film School on Grindhouse: Planet Terror
just curious if anyone has seen the “10 minute film school” featurette on the new “Grindhouse: Planet Terror” DVD.
Robert briefly shows the process they used for replacing the girl’s leg with a machine gun. During filming they immobilized her leg from bending and wrapped it with greenscreen or gray cloth. You can briefly see that they appear to have used a planar tracking system to track the leg in post. What is interesting is from the look of it for the most part they did not shoot clean plates and a lot of the camera work seems to be handheld. I’m curious as to how they replaced the background that would have been obscured by the actual leg…just a lot of cloning masked by the added film scratches and such?

i was looking for this video yesterday on youtube but couldnt find it .. just the one he did for el mariachi . do you have a link to this video any where?
