01:00:00:00 ?
Posted by Steve Tamou on October 7, 2007 at 5:09 amWhy do all the sequences in the timeline start at 1 hour (01:00:00:00)? How come it doesn’t start at 0 (zero)? I don’t understand that.

October 7, 2007 at 5:29 amBecause in broadcast TV, when you deliver a show, the show needs to start exactly at 1:00:00:00. BUT, before that, we need to have Bars and Tone and a slate of information about the program. Because Deck cannot handle timecode going from 23:58:30:00 to 00:00:00:00, show times are adjusted to start at 1:00:00:00.
In England, some shows are required to start at 10:00:00:00.

October 7, 2007 at 8:52 amAs Shane says some video desks get crazy when during a preroll jums from 00.00.00.00 to 23…… In those cases you need to control the desk by CTL instead of TC and the editing can be less accurate. However in FC you can change the deffault TC of the sequence and set whatever TC you want to start. In the users prefs.

That’s a User Preference.

October 8, 2007 at 2:56 pmA lot of that is still tradition. with delivery to the web and DVD most people probably don’t use it any more.
It bugs me, too, but as Mr B says, its easy to change.
File–>User Preferences–>Timeline Options–> Its right at the top where it says “Starting Timecode” Just turn the “1” to a “0”
