Creation Effects Releases Solaris for Adobe After Effects
Adding to its collection of visual effects templates, Creation Effects has just released “Solaris” for Adobe After Effects. Solaris allows users to create realistic animations of a sun or star, suitable for scientific animations for documentaries, as well as cinematic shots for film and sci-fi projects.
Solaris combines the control of building a custom animation with the realism of authentic sun footage. Included is a collection of solar elements derived from NASA footage of the sun. These elements include 8K footage of sun surface textures, solar flares, prominences, and coronal mass ejections. After choosing a surface texture, users can place prominences or plasma eruptions wherever they want on the sun’s surface. The sun is three-dimensional, allowing them to animate their 3D camera and incorporate other 3D elements into the scene. The brightness, rotation, inner and outer glow, and other attributes of the sun can be customized with slider controls.

Included in the template are 12 finished sun animations (“presets”) that are ready to render. Solaris also comes with a variety of bonus effects such as lens flares, heat haze, sound effects, star backgrounds, and several heat-themed animated titles. All of the effects can be customized. As usual, Creation Effects has produced a video tutorial explaining the effects and demonstrating the process of building and animating a sun.

Solaris can be used with minimal experience in After Effects, and is available now for $35 at www.CreationEffects.com/solaris. It is compatible with After Effects 2021 and up (no plugins required).

Creation Effects was started in 2012 by VFX artist Noel Powell. Creation Effects specializes in custom effects for video professionals and enthusiasts. Its collection of unique After Effects templates tackles common animation and VFX challenges, such as flocks of birds, 3D books, and particle simulations, and presents them in a way that is easy for the user to customize to create their own animations.
