Avid Media Composer Builds Pre-Dating 2023.8 No Longer Available After September 29, 2023

Avid encourages you to archive any versions of Media Composer pre-dating 2023.8 that you have licenses for to retain access.

Removal of Legacy Versions

Beginning September 29, 2023, the only versions available for download from Avid directly will be 2023.8 (most recent) and forthcoming Long-Term Maintenance (LTM) versions of 2022.x and 2021.x series. All legacy versions from 2023.3.1 and older will be removed and will not be available from Avid. This also means that Avid’s tech support staff will not have access to these legacy installers.

Why the change? These legacy versions contain code proprietary to Nexidia – the makers of the original ScriptSync and PhraseFind technology.  All future versions of Media Composer will be available in a customer’s MyAvid account, Avid Link and the Download Center and will contain the new development for ScriptSync AI and PhraseFind AI.

Will this change cause disruptions? No, don’t worry… If you are running a legacy version of Media Composer and wish to continue doing so, it will continue to function for the length of your subscription term. Perpetual licenses will also continue to function with legacy versions.

However, it is important that you visit the Download Center prior to September 29th, 2023 to download any version installer that you have a license for and may need access to in the future. Be sure to store it in a safe location in case you ever need it. Then, at your earliest convenience, please upgrade to one of the officially supported versions.

If you purchased the Media Composer software directly from Avid, then you have two locations you can download your software from: the Avid Download Center and the My Products page in your MyAvid account. You can also bypass the download process and install directly from the Avid Link application.
