After Effects cameras and Unreal Engine

Welcome to my series on learning Unreal Engine for video production, especially for Adobe After Effects artists.

I’ve been learning how to use Unreal Engine, the free-to-use gaming engine which is being used more and more for video production. It’s an awesome, exciting tool with a really steep initial learning curve. But once you understand the basics, you’ll suddenly find you can do so much, so easily.

In this video, to make full use of the virtual landscapes that Unreal can offer, I talk through the process of importing cameras from After Effects into Unreal. I cover all the extra steps needed to make this happen, from tracking a camera to enabling plug-ins and then rendering out a result. I also talk about the best ways to get a camera animation out of Unreal Engine, which is not as straight-forward.
