  No smart render for GH1?

  I had gotten smart render to work for trimming AVCHD captured on my Sony HDR SR11. Seems I can’t do that for the GH1? I’m guessing it’s because there is not a profile in Vegas that matches its settings of 24p in a 60i wrapper. Can anyone confirm this? I use Neoscene but it would be nice to be able to use Vegas to trim clips before having Neoscene convert them.

  Your guess is correct. If Vegas doesn’t have a render profile that matches the source media it won’t smart render and 24p is always problematic because of the 60i wrapper. I would just convert them all to NeoScene, then make a trimmed timeline of all the clips you want to keep, finally use Save as… with the option to Save media with the project and Vegas will copy only the sections of the clips you actually used to the new destination.
