    Hi all,

I’m creating a surfing animation which is in the same sort of style as this piece by Rob Chiu, https://theronin.co.uk/Motion/?Black_Day_To_Freedom.mov

Its going to be very still and the camera mostly adding the energy, I just wanted to know what you guys thought was the best way to create the foam off the waves as I can’t seem to get a nice effect with particle playground? I was thinking something similar to the black effect in Rob Chiu’s work but have no idea how to go about it

    Thanks!

The effects in that movie are just some paint splatter layers animated by hand. Very simple move with 2 keyframes in 3D, perhaps some scaling, but mostly just parallax 3D camera action.
    about 4-5 max per time.
Get creative with paint and scan it in, or buy some stock splats.

There are also a few ‘ink tank’ shots composited in, You can buy some at videocopilot for cheap!
