Help with Sony Video Capture 6.0
I have always bypassed this method but I wanted to see if it’s scene detection function during batch capture worked.
But this program does not recognize my Sony camcorder, connected with firewire. Using Vegas Pro 8.1
Any help would be appreciated.

Which Sony camcorder? Does Windows see your camera when you plug it in?
Sony Video Capture 6 will only capture Standard Definition. If you are looking to capture HD you need to use the built-in capture utility in Vegas Pro 8.1.

Your right. Once Windows recognized it with its generic import feature, I was able to select the dv cam from Vid Capture 6.0
Btw, what built-in capture utility?

Vegas Pro has two capture tools. The external Vidcap for DV and an internal HDV capture tool (File | Capture Video… | HDV or SDI).

I have determined that the Vid Capture 6.0e is the program I need.
Just need to get it to work.
I am in the Advanced tab. I want to manually log the scenes since the auto-scene function doesn’t seem to be working.How do I get started? The scene length doesn’t seem to calculate unless I quickly press Timecode In, then Timecode Out, then Log. Surely this is not the method. I am trying to do this as I watch the tape.

AFAIK, batch capture has never worked for any form of HD material 🙁

Jeff, I’ll start by addressing another issue first.
I want to manually log the scenes since the auto-scene function doesn’t seem to be working.
The option may be disabled in VidCap (Options – Prefs – Capture – Enable DV Scene detection).
It could also be that the internal clock in your camcorder has never been set (this is where tape time code comes from) or, if it’s more than a few years old, the internal battery needs replacing.How do I get started? It’s either that or logging the tape first.
This means watching it, writing down the time code numbers for each scene you want to capture and then entering them manually.BTW, the online help menu in VidCap is pretty good.

I didn’t notice the date of your post, but i am having a similar problem.
VidCap(c) build 474 works fine with my deck
VidCap (e) build 1000 will not work (vegas 9,11 and 12)Hope this helps.
Vegas 7 is VidCap (c)
