I want to set the render quality for youtube to CBR not VBR. When I make a custom template and save the settings of the CBR, it still says VBR 90 in the description box. Not only that, but when changing the frame size(from 720X480 to 1280X 720), the custom frame size doesn’t appear in the description box, either. The bit rate doesn’t change too! Can you help me?

Are you sure? If so, why does the bit rate not change?

You sure? Some sort of short tutorial with pictures, about rendering for youtube videos, would really help.

When you created your custom template, did you give it a different name before you saved it?
If you didn’t do this, then nothing got saved as the default templates CAN’T be over-written.

Nope, no bingo. Saved it under a custom template. I need the file size to be a bit smaller so it can load on YouTube faster. Any suggestions?

As Jay said, the wording in the description box won’t change when you save a custom template.
If I’m being really fussy about a custom template, I’ll change the wording in this box in addition to a new name.

Start a new render, choose this template and then check and make sure that all the desired variables on the video tab did indeed get changed.

Instead of an MPEG-2 render, try mp4 or WMV, both of which YouTube will accept.

Thank you very much! Now, what settings should I change to get WMV smaller in filesize, to be posted on YouTube?

Do the same thing you were trying before and that’s lowering the bitrate.
Keep in mind that lower bitrate = lower quality.

What bit rate should I use? Should the bit rate be under ISDN, High speed internet, or Internet/Lan?

I’ve never posted anything to YouTube so I have no idea.
My suggestion would be to use the highest bitrate possible that keeps you under the size limit.

Thank you for all your help, but there’s one last problem. The Volume is going down a bit when I render it. How can this be fixed?
