  Best Rendering Setting & Export To DVD Arch

  Hi Guys,

  I am rendering in high definition from a Sony HVR-Z1 and burning onto a single layer dvd. Whats the best settings to render in vegas for HD and for it to export to DVD architect 5?

  Also can I set the chapter markers in vegas so I dont need to them in Arch.

  Any help would be appreciated,

  If you are trying to make a standard definition DVD render the video using the MainConcept MPEG-2 file type with the DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen video stream template (or PAL). Then render the audio using the Dolby Digital AC-3 file type with the appropriate template for your project (stereo or 5.1)

  Hi John,

  Thanks for your quick reply. Would the quality be better if I am rendering in MainConcept MPEG-2 but with HDV 1080-50i?

  Also in the video tab of the template should I always move the scale to the highest for video quality?

  It depends on what type of disc you are creating. You cannot place HD media on a standard definition DVD.

  Are you making a DVD to play on set-top DVD players or are you trying to create a hybrid Blu-ray Disc on plain red-laser DVD media to be played in a Blu-ray player or PS3?

  The answer to that question will determining what you can place on the disc.

  Its a standard burn, but what I normally do is render it in HD because its been recorded in HD and use DVD arch to burn it which compresses it to standard disc.

  Ive found I get better quality when its rendered in HD as opposed to PAL Standard.

  DVD Architect is recompressing the file to PAL MPEG-2 anyway. You might as well render to PAL MPEG-2 in the first place and avoid the extra render to HD which can only loose quality from what’s on the timeline.

  For producing SD-DVDs from HD recordings I found very comfortable working in SD timelines (let me pan & crop) and rendering (as John says) to mpeg2 DVD arch widescreen template… be sure to render with BEST settings (not big difference with SD recordings)…
