SD pan-crop from HDV
Making some tests with SD (wide) pan-crop from HDV (1280 x 720) source:
– crop window with lock aspect ratio and making height 480 (853.3 results in width).
– position my window selection or keyframe panning.
– render to NTSC-wide AVIis this final rendered AVI something like the obtained from a DV-widescreen (SD) captured from tape ??? is this method correct ???… I guess this also applies to XDCAM-EX files (and with better panning options having a 1920 x 1080 file size….)
am I right with this ??? any comment would be greatly apreciated…

Yes, this is how you would pan into an HDV frame at SD resolution. This assumes that you only want a small part of the original SD frame. If you wanted the whole frame with an SD crop it is easier to change the project properties to DV Widescreen and then use the Match Output Aspect option in Pan/Crop. But if you want to pan around an HDV shot, that is the proper procedure. You might get sight black bars on the left and right edges because obviously there is no way to render 853.3 pixels (it has to be a whole number but can’t because DV widescreen aspect does not equal HDV widescreen exactly).

I guess you´re trying to say: “…a small part of the original HDV frame.”
Anyway, thank you so much… maybe this also has the potential of using stabilizer software (Boris or Mercalli) at SD resolutions from HD frames …. what do you think ??

Yes, I meant from an HDV frame. Actually stabilizer software works well in this situation because you have lots of room to crop the edges.
