Hi Nick
In the first place you should really never store video files or your render files on your C drive. That’s just asking for problems.
In Vegas Prefs, you can specify the drive and folders for Vegas Tmp Render files as well as capture files. Capture directory is set in the capture utility.
You should specify a 2nd HD, IMHO an internal one for all your media and rendering. Then when you finish a project, sometimes I have to go and manually empty the TMP Render folder or it will build up and fill the HD eventually.
Were your figures just representative or are you talking a 20gb HD? No where near being big enough. I’d look for at lease a 500 or more GB HD. Prices are quite reasonable now. I have 2 external HD’s I use for storage. Seagate 750 and a MyBook 300 both FW connections.
Also if you already have been using your C drive for rendering and file storage, you got to find the TMP Render directory and delete it and move the clips to the 2nd HD. They’re usually in the Documents folder. (that’s the default).
