Automatic split video/track in Sony Vegas 8.0 ?!
Hi everyone,
I’m just installed Sony Vegas 8.0 to replace my old Pinnacle Studio 10.
Just wanna ask, is there any way that i can split video/track automatically after transfer my video to PC/Mac on Sony Vegas 8.0? (Pinnacle Studio recognized and split based on my captured video time)I mean, i do not have to pres “S” key to split the whole 2 hour recording video.It can save hour of time for editing my wedding project.
*btw, i’m using Canon XL2 for shooting my video.

In VidCap (the capture utility), do you have “Scene Detection” (Options > Prefs > Capture > select the first option) enabled?
This splits the tape into segments based on the record button being activated.
Please note that the camcorder’s internal clock must be set for this option to work.

Another good option to try which splits your video at scene cuts
during capture is “WinDV”. I really love this little tool, and no
matter how sluggish your computer is, you wont experience dropped

Thanks Mike and Steve, i think i have toset myu internal clock first before vegas can recognized my video segment..and yes that’s what i ment Mike..:)

Faisal, if it’s any consolation, forgetting to set the internal clock has caught a lot of Vegas users so you’re not the first one to have this happen.
Set it and you’ll be a much happier editor!!
Just remember to check the little internal battery periodically to make sure it’s still working. -
Hi Steve, Want to see something ironic? I hadn’t heard of WinDV yet so I googled it and the first screen shot I saw shows 21 frames dropped, Although every other article I saw on it described it just as you did.

I’m still going to try it as it’s a free and stand alone capture app. It’s just ironic that this article also raves about it not dropping frames. I’ve seen many posts on Sony Vegas not seeing their camera and this app is another way of getting video from the camera to the hard drive. I think the screen shot is just a fluke.

Hi Steve, I hope you didn’t get the wrong idea from my post as I’m sure it’s a gret tool. I just downloaded it and another cool thing about it is it runs out of the folder without installing anything. That means It will run as a portable on a jump drive, now a way to get video on someones computer who doesn’t have any capture software. Wow!! This is the first protable capture app i’ve seen. Thank you Steve.
