Printing To DV HalfSpeed
I am trying to print an .avi (NTSC DV) to my camera. It prints, but it is almost like it is in half speed. What am I doing wrong?

I am hoping someone can give me some input here. Never had this problem before. Even when the capture is going from the machine to the recorder it is severely slowed down. It drags and I can’t figure out why.

First of all, you are doing this through a firewire port I hope as USB won’t work properly.
Does it play back properly on the timeline?
If it doesn’t, make sure that you haven’t accidentally inseted a velocity envelope or altered the timeline in some way that would cause this.Check your project properties and make sure tha tthey haven’t gotten changed somehow.
My final thought is that there’s something wrong with your camcorder.
Try it with a different one and see if it works properly. If it does, then you know your camcorder is in desperate need of service 🙁 -
Everything plays fine on the timeline, perfectly. Even when I watch the avi on my machine outside of Vegas it is fine. Maybe it is the camera. Realizing I’m about to loose a contract is not a good feeling.

Try rendering the entire project to DV-AVI and then output it using the Capture program. See if that makes a difference.

That’s the thing, the camera is not picking up like a drive. I was thinking I would just be able to drag and drop the project into the camera. Didn’t work like that. Are there more ways to save this to tape. Just a quesion, DV NTSC should work correct?

So… this isn’t a DV camera with firewire input/output? It shouldn’t look like a hard drive. From Vegas you go to Tools – Print to DV Tape. How are you trying to get the DV onto the tape?

Yes, hooking up with Firewire. Going to Tools>Print To Tape. I’m not sure of the model number, but the camera is a Sony Mini DV. Figured it would work easily.

It should work easily. If that didn’t work, try my other suggestion of rendering to DV-AVI and then sending it back to the camera via the Vidcap program (or some other program such as Scenalyzer Live).

can you go into a little more detail about this process? i’m a little confused on how this works since i can’t really get it to the camera to start with. this is what i did:
1: opened dvd in vegas 7
2: edited out everything i need
3: rendered as DV-NTSClike i said, i also rendered as .wmv and .mov, both play fine on the pc.

Open the VidCap program (File – Capture Video), go to the “Print to Tape” tab, add the DV-AVI file, and send it to the camera.
