  • Quick way of doing a J or L audio cut with Vegas?

Posted by Mark Stuart on February 3, 2007 at 5:25 pm

    1) Is there a temporary method of unlocking the associated audio of a video clip to allow the audio to cut before or after the edit point?
    2) Related to the above – is there a quick method of doing an audio cross fade with the video doing a cut (instead of the video cross fading too)

    Regards
    Mark

Turn on Ignore Event Grouping (button is on top with an open padlock), and this lets you do separate operation with video and audio.

A quick way to put in a crossfade for either video or audio is to place the cursor at the cut and hit the / key (above numeric 8). The overlap amount is set in preferences.

Vegas has many ways of doing things, Gary knows most of them. The way I do my audio overlap/video cut cuts is to select a clip, hit ‘U’ to un-group the video and audio, and then I drag the edges of the audio to overlap as much as I want. When done, I select audio and video again and hit ‘G’ to re-group them.

I like Gary’s way though, but there are always a ton of ways to do the same thing in Vegas. Find your favorite method 🙂
