Activity Forums VEGAS Pro No audio with my avi video

I’m trying to import a large avi file into vegas. Whenever I do, it builds the peaks for god knows how long then an error window appears saying:

An error occured during the current operation
An error occured while opening a codec.

The video works just fine, I can edit it however I want. But the audio says “Peaks not avaliable” and there is no sound. If I play this in any player the audio works just fine. If I try to render will there still be no sound? What can I do to have the audio show up?

    Thank you.

The only thing I could recoment is to make sure you have the latest update for you Vegas Video edition by going here and downloading it.

    Hope this helps,

You need to figure out what format the audio is in and make sure you have a codec available for that type. (AVI is just a wrapper that can hold many different types.) You can always try using some other program to convert the audio to a standard WAV file.
