Passthru VHS>CamCorder>Vegas Problem
Hello, here is the setup:
A firewire hookup VHS player > Sony Digital Camcorder > Firewire > PC 3.4GHz, 2G RAM, Windows XP SP2 + Vegas.
Capture works when a digital casette is played on the Camcorder.
Capture does not work when a VHS tape is played as a passthru.
Details:
A. Capturing Digital-8 works but “Preview Suspended During Capture.” Cannot see what’s going on except on the counter. I can’t find the control to show the Video on the monitor during capture.
B. Capturing as “passthru” the audio is OK, but shows a very brief (fraction of a second) moving video, then turns blank. “Reconnect the device” does the same. Rebooting, different firewire plugs etc. no luck.
Advice sought!

In the capture program, turn OFF “Device Control”. What’s happening is the capture program is trying to start playing your tape (and you’re not using one). Turn off Device Control and all will work fine.

While searching (before I bothered folks like you in this forum) I came across the device control, but cannot find where it is! Sorry, it must be under my nose. Where is it, please?

Capture program – Options – Preferences and it’s the very first option on the GENERAL tab.
