  DB2 format

  Does anybody know about rendering a vegas file into a DB2 format? I am not familiar with this format, but have been asked if I was capable of rendering my vegas project into this format.

  If this is not possible, what is the highest definition format that I could use?

  If you do a google search the most common thing that comes up is IBM’s database format. Evidently there is a video extension for it and that extension will handle several file types.

  Yeah, that is what I came up with, but I am not sure what they are really talking about. I guess I will have to look more into it. Thanks for your assistance.

  The short video that I have made is going to be a part of a compilation dvd and when I asked what format they would like my master in they said DB2. I am not familiar with this format.

  Any suggestions on what the highest quality of render I could give them would be?

  I think they meant MPEG2.

  The highest quality depends on what’s really going to happen to the file in the end. If it’s Mpg2, then your best best is to provide a one-generation render to that format.

  There are also uncopmpressed formats to choose from, which could serve you well if file size is not a factor.

  I am not sure what the final format will be. I know that my video will be a part of a compilation dvd. I received the message through email and it was DB2, but the email was most likely second hand information, so I could see where the mistake was made.

  If size isn’t an issue, what are the uncompressed formats that I could use?

  If size weren’t an issue you’d output an uncompressed AVI file. However, I’m sure that size will be an issue if you hand them a 300GB render. (just making that number up, btw).

  I think you can safely go back to them and ask them for their delivery requirements. Tell them you don’t know what they mean by a DB2 format. In fact, respond to their email where they asked for a DB2, so they can see that they asked for it.
