  • To make an arrow move across a graph using track motion

I need to make an arrow float across a graph, [which is a JPEG,] to point to different things in the graph, [the arrow is made in photoshop on a transparent back ground],

I find the track motion & key framing confusing, I don know to how to use it

Should I use the Track motion function on the or the Pan crop function

[ In this case the arrows have to move from the left to the right]

if using mutliple arrows in different positons, does each arrow have to have its own dedicates videotrack?

Definitely use Track Motion and put each arrow on its own track. With keyframing, it’s useful to think in terms of starting and ending positions. Set the beginning position of the arrow, then move to the point on the timeline where the motion stops and place the second keyframe. If you want the motion to be exactly linear (no acceleration), set the smoothness to 0.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you for this advice

Do you know where I can find a range of arrows/ other graphic design drawing objects….which have a transparent backgound that I can use in an alpha channel for the track motion??

Try using Wingdings or simlar as a font in the Text Generator. This way you can resize using font size, rotate with Pan Crop or Track Motion, change position using either P/Crop, Track Motion or Placement in the Text generator, and add outline or shadow.

To see which Key does which character, Windows has a Character Map accessory – under WINDOWS/System 32/charmap.exe. I keep a shortcut on the desktop.
