Hi, is it possible detect the Audio alignment of 2 movies in FFMPEG?

You can do this in Premiere using synchronise, I just wondered if FFMPEG had the capability to analyse audio waveforms

    Thanks

You could phase reverse one, then mix and see if the resulting volume is zero.
But if you have different sources, I don’t think there is anything.
In FFmpeg devel speak: ‘patch welcome’

Yes a patch would be good – I’m trying to select a mov file, then a wav file (lavalier mic recording) to replace the audio with and create a new merged mov file

The remark means that you have to write the patch ☺

Most people use common timecode for dual system sound. More reliable and very easy. Why do you want to go the most difficult route?

Ah right. I’ll look into it, I have lots of footage that requires a syncing the boom/lavalier mic with the Camera. So it wouldn’t be daul sound it would be removing the Camera audio track completely and replacing it with the secondary audio file.

I was looking for an easier way than premiere.

Sorry if I’m not being too clear!

If the audio is from another recorder than the camera, it’s dual system sound.
And if you want to replace the audio from the cam, that’s normal.
it all is very, very easy if you shoot with common timecode.
(Most of the time the BWF recorder is the master.)
