I have an FCP sequence that is DVCPRO HD 720p/59.94 and HSN’s specs are ProRes HQ, Interlaced, 1980×1080, Top Field First, 29.97df.

I have Compressor (latest) and Media Encoder CS5.

How do I get there? I thought ProRes was a “pass thru” codec…?!?!

    Thanks for any help.

I would export directly out of the FCP timeline and choose ProRes HQ and be sure to check the interlaced box and set it to Upper Field. Then specify the framerate as 29.97.

In the Size checkbox, make it 1920 x 1080. Set Audio to 48k PCM and you should get a perfectly passable clip….a large one, but should pass QC.

Thanks – I wound up watching some tutorials and basically did the same thing you suggest, just in Compressor. I have been spanked before about exporting from FCP compared to Compressor. I chose the uncompressed preset in HD, changed the codec to ProResHQ and did just what you said.

Now I know – I hope someone needs it again before I forget!
