  • Trouble modelling a ribbed handle.

Posted by Brad Bergman on February 10, 2016 at 10:47 pm

    Hi,

I am pretty new to Cinema 4D and was wondering if someone can help me with this issue. What is the best way to model a ribbed part of an object in cinema 4D? Images are attached (The blue part of the image also wraps around in a wavy pattern). Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Brad

The easiest way to model something like that would probably be to use material displacement. You could unwrap the UVs and render out a template to use in PS, or paint the the displacement in Bodypaint. Another option would be to use the sculpt tools. In that case it might be easier to sculpt it flat and then bend it into a cylindrical shape when you’re done.

    I would agree with adam!
Another way is the boole tool, adjust a tube so have the wavey effect then boole it with the existing cylinder.
That’s the fun of C4D is that you can do it with a ton of different tools!
