  • Texture not applying correctly to lathed cylinder shape

    Posted by Joey Campbell on March 16, 2014 at 1:08 pm

    Hi – I’ve spent two hours trying to figure out this with no joy.
    The Material won’t apply correctly to the lathed shape but applies fine to a regular cylinder primitive.
    I’ve attached the file – if anyone could shed some light on this it would be great.
    [In 3d max there is an option to rotate a uvw map but there doesn’t seem to be an option in c4d without going into body paint!?]

    There’s a number of things you could do:

    * simply rotate the texture in Photoshop;

    * set the texture tag to cylindrical mapping and use the texture tool to rotate/scale;

    * duplicate the material, put the logo texture in a layer shader, add an effect>transform layer, and set the transform to rotate 90deg.

    you can use a cylindrical projection for the texture and the texture axis tools to get it into the right orientation.
