I am making an animation of a piece of “paper” (right now a sweep nurbs rectangle along a spline path) plane that gets pressed in a gear (cogwheel spline that has extrude nurbs applied to it) and comes out on the other side embossed with the gear pattern in it.

I’m not sure of I am explaining it right, but before the paper goes over the gear i want it flat, and after it goes over the gear, I want it embossed so that it has the “teethmarks” in it.

Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks in advance, ad

    Depends on your detail level.
Is it so deep that you need to actually model the impression or can you get away with animating a bump map or displacement?
