I am an intermediate After Effects user and would like to get serious in developing professional effects skills marketable for broadcast and video. I’ve reached that point in which 3d integration would open up so many artistic possibilities in my After Effects compositions. Therefore, I’m seeking advice from those of you who are much further along in this process than I am. Should I jump into purchasing and learning C4d? Or do you recommend first taking an intermediate step such as purchasing and learning Zaxwerks ProAnamator or Invigorator?
    Thanks for the Advice!

Id say just go for it ive been using cinema 4d for only a few years now.
I came across a tutorial dvd on lynda.com for c4d it teaches you the basics best thing i ever did.
Why not try the demo version first and see how you go?

You could check out this series of intro tutorials to see if you think you’ll like it:

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question with your suggestions. I downloaded the demo version and have been working with it. The documentation seems lacking in terms of user friendliness, but the tutorials you suggested have been excellent. I may break down and purchase the whole series on lynda.com.
I’ve really been struggling to get the export to AE to work seamlessly. Should this be an easy process? If so, I’m probably missing some small but critical step.
Anyway, thanks again and happy modeling!

    Tim –
At first I didn’t realize how many tutorials were on your web site. Amazing! And I really like your presentation style – the details are all there and in common language. I’ll go through these thoroughly.
Thank-you for all your hard work!
