  • Adding a displacement map to a shader

    Hello,

I have created a model with the Danel shader for a steel look. I would like to add a displacement map, but the shader does not have the option.
I have created a separate material with the displacement and have tried merging them in several ways, but to no avail.
I’ve found a similar post but somehow the solution did not work for me; obviously I am doing something wrong, as I assume this is a rather simple task.

    I’d appreciate your help.

    Thanks

Danel is one of the old SLA shaders, I get weird results trying to mix a displacement shader with it as well. Try using Lumas in the color channel of a shader instead, Lumas is (I think) what became of Danel once the SLA shaders were absorbed. It’s very similar and with a bit of tweaking you should get what you want and you can use the displacement channel in the shader.

It took me a moment to figure that out, but it worked perfectly!

    Thanks very much!
