Has anyone else had this happen…?

On occasion I’ve posted a reply to someone’s new-thread post when I thought I had an answer to their question or something to add.

I’ll write a response, click to post it, and POOF!!!… not only does my reply not show up, but there’s NO HINT OF THE ORIGINAL POST back in the main forum. It has simply disappeared, as if it was never there. I would think I had been hallucinating, if not for the email notifications reassuring me the post did exist at one point.

Are people deleting posts (I wasn’t even aware one could do that)? Or are they being moderated?… none of them ever seemed to contain anything offensive to warrant admin removal.

I’d normally just give it a “Hmmm that’s weird” and shrug it off… except I just spent a good 10 minutes of my time writing a reply to a question that no longer exists. And this has happened numerous times in the past.

    Just curious….

Yes. In my case I’m getting posts to forums I’m subscribed to via email. I respond to the post without any issues. I go to the forum and neither their post or mine exists. I can go right back to the email and click on the link and there’s the post and my reply. It just doesn’t exist if I go to the forum directly.

I’ve had the same, (but only once I think),
I thought at the time the OP had deleted the thread to avoid embarassment.

What’s more, I’m positive there was a thread below this one that I was going to read next, and while I was writing the previous reply, it dissappeared too!

    Yep, exactly.

What’s even weirder, both the original post and my reply do show up perfectly normally if I log in to the mobile version of the COW from my phone. They are just not there in the regular full version.

Anyone know why this would happen? Ron? Tim?

Just happened to me 5 minutes ago on the DSLR forum.

I had this happen to me this past week or so as well, but I’m so tired this week I’ve forgotten exactly what it was, except that my response had of course been useful, erudite, timely, and witty. I came back to check other answers to the thread and add a second though and *poof* it was gone, no trace. I thought maybe I had imagined it.

Somewhere deep in The Matrix, a server has re-booted, I think.

Literally just happened to me, in this forum with a post about how much to charge for a screen capture/VFX job.

    Strange…

But the strange thing is we’re obviously seeing these threads otherwise we wouldn’t be responding to them . . . to discover that they’re gone. Basically COW has created a discontinuity in the space time continuum so we see and respond to posts in our in boxes but don’t see them on the COW.

Now I have to get the Tardis fixed.

Unbelievable… it just happened to me again.

I was replying to the original disappearing thread (which for some reason had re-appeared), and after I posted my (fairly lengthy) response, the thread was gone.

I think I’m gonna hold off wasting my time posting any more replies (at least anything more than a sentence) until this is figured out.
