I am working with a virtual background and I am wanting to do a camera pull from a monitor to the full set where my talent is standing. Pretty simple move really. But for the life of me, I cannot get the camera to move on the x and y axis. It pivots instead of actually moving the camera left to right. Can anyone tell me how to have my camera actually move from left to right instead of pivoting?

    Thanks,
    Greg Kuhn

Create a Null layer, and search in the effects panel “Seperate XYZ” and apply it to the null. Now parent the Camera layer to the Null layer and use the X Y Z sliders applied to the Null layer.

Or … select the camera, then layer>transform>auto-orient>off.

    Or use the camera tool.

To do this, turn on the stopwatch for BOTH camera position and point of interest and make start keyframes. Make sure all your layers are set to 3D (otherwise the camera won’t apply to them).

Then move down in the timeline, and hit the c key to use the camera tool. As you toggle through the options by repeatedly hitting the c key, you will be able to pull back, push in, move in the x-y axes, or rotate the orientation of the camera. As long as you’ve turned on the stopwatch, any move you make will automatically create new keyframes in the timeline.
