What FCP presets/easy setup to use for Canon 60d NTSC
I am using a Canon 60d in 30fps and was wondering what settings I should be using including
sequence presets
capture presets
device control presetsI want to create an NTSC video and DVD and it asks to convert the timeline to 50 fps for some reason to match the video and have no idea why. I can also shoot it in 60fps, but I am not sure if this helps me for NTSC format.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to anyone who can help me 🙂 Really! -

Hi Jeremy. If you haven’t done so, download the Canon plugin for FCP from Canons website. Once that is installed, you will bring your footage in as ProRes. When you create a new sequence and add your video clip, it should ask if you would like to match your setting. That is how it should work. If you are having problems with the frame rate changing on you, just click in your timeline and hit command 0 and match your sequence settings with your clip settings.

EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro Ver1.2If so I installed this, great. But then what do I need to do, Chris says L&T to Prores, um, sorry, what does that mean?
Also do I use the Easy Setup?

Export your edit.

Ok, I did a few hours research and understand how to now Log and Transfer via the Canon plugin thanks mostly to this

however I have only previously used tape formats and would like to know what the Audio/Video settings are for a Canon 60d shot in 60fps for NTSC. Not sure what I should be putting in for the
Sequence preset,
capture preset,
device control preset and
Audio/video playback.This should then get me going, I hope.

The audio/video setup is going to allow you to set the preset of a new sequence. If you will be working with the 60D most of the time, set your sequence present to match that clips footage. I believe that would be 1920×1080, square pixels with a flavor of ProRes that you choose to import in L&T. Keep in mind after you have ingested your footage and add it to a timeline that Final Cut will ask if you would like to match your clip settings. Make sure to do this. And take a look what those settings are and make that your preset for sequences.
Capture preset will be determined based the tape you are capturing. I’m not sure if you have external monitoring so I can’t give you a good recommendation for A/V and devise control.

Fantastic, Thank you very very much for your help. If I am after slow motion shots, I am guessing it would be better to shoot in 60fps for everything I do and since it is going to DVD I wont need to worry about shooting in Full HD.
Really the final and most important question is what do I put the System Preset on? Is it Apple ProRes 422 1280 x 720 60fps?
