I received some video for a film that was in Animation codec. Now, when I put it in FCP I am getting “shadow pixels” when there is movement. Is there anything I can do to correct this?

    Thank you

I’m not sure I understand the problem that you’re having.

Does the file have an alpha channel? If so, is it straight or premultiplied?

I found out that the real problem I’m having is the same I realated to you in the other post. There is difficulty with the footage when I put it in the time line and it shows the pixels in the Canvas. It is perfect in the viewer. I am confused to say the least. I now have the original footage and will be logging and capturing it again. I will let you know how it turns out. In the mean while, do you have any ideas?

    Thanks,

What are your timeline settings? Is your canvas set to view at 100%? (If not, it never really represents what your video looks like)

Setting up a timeline to the Animation compressor isn’t a regular practice. It would really help if you explained your workflow a little more.

    Russell,

Could you please explain what you mean by workflow?

    Thanks,

    Yeah, no problem.

What was your show shot on? How did you digitize it? How did you get it into the animation format? What graphics/effects are being done and on what system? How will you view or deliver the final video?

Workflow is beginning to end of the project. It’s usually a very good practice to plan and test your workflow before you begin a project. (way too many people don’t and they end up with some pretty nasty problems and super tight deadlines).

Thanks for all your help Russell. I followed one of your questions and investigated the original footage and found that most of it was ripped from a DVD and saved in “iMovie”, why I don’t know. I did not know about this until I went back to check it out. I re-ripped the footage and everything is back on track.

Again, thank you for your help. I would still be fooling around without your advice instead of going back to the source.

    Thanks again,

    Wally
