exporting clips for submission using 10 bit uncompressed 4:2:2 codec
Hi everybody,
I’m currently working on a submission for a film stock agency. They recommend using either the Blackjack or AJA 10-bit uncompressed 4:2:2 codec for exporting. I’ve downloaded what I can find off both companies’ websites. There is also the Apple 10-bit uncompressed 4:2:2 codec already in Final Cut Express HD, I’m not sure if there’s a difference in quality. I’m not even sure if I got the right codec from AJA or Blackmagic.
When I export the file using “quicktime conversion” and any one of these codecs, and play it back with Quicktime Pro 7, there are tiny lines even with playback set to high quality. I don’t know if this is quicktime pro’s fault or if I’m doing something wrong, so that’s my question. If this is the quicktime player’s fault, am I doing it right? What is the best way to export a quicktime movie using 10 bit uncompressed 4:2:2?
I’m editing on a mac powerbook g4 1.25 ghz, with Final Cut Express HD.
thanks very much,
greg
