  FEATURE FILM ON HDV

  Hi,

  I am going to be editing a feature lenghth film on Final Cut Pro. HDV 1080p.

  The choice for CC is AFX and Color.

  But I have to give the output on uncompressed QT files. In that case is it better that I do CC in AFX…16bpc, and render out the files from there directly ?

  OR

  Will I render it out from FCP, using Color ?? Does FCP support 16bpc render outs ??

  In any case there will be res loss. I just want to figure out which one will have the minimum loss.

  1. Is ProRes 422 automatic ?Or will I get an option in my capture settings ? Because I was considering digitizing native 1080p.

  2. My film has no effects. All I have to do is edit and color correct.

  I think i shall use Color on this one.

  If you’re planning on using Color, ask in a Color forum if there’s anything you should know before proceeding. It’s a quirky app.
