  Why converting uncompressed SD video to ProRes flips the field dominance to upper?

  When I convert a SD video file to ProRes 422 using compressor, it outputs a file that is upper field first. The uncompressed file is lower field first. I checked the “Frame Controls” setting in compressor and it is set to “Same as Source”. Thanks for any info.

  HD video is upper field…SD is lower field.

  Yes – it’s changing the SD video to upper field. It’s not keeping it lower field for SD.

  Ohhhh…you are making it ProRes SD? And it is switching the field order?

  What is your SD frame size ?

  720 x 480 or 486?

  It’s 720 x 486. Would that make a difference even if it was 720 x 480?
