  Trying to get into preferences gives disk error!

  Brand new Mac Pro, clean install of CS3…. After Effects today is giving me “error:getting volume info – disk error (I/O error, bad media) (-36)”

  This is when I try to go into any of the Preferences…. otherwise it’s running fine. I’ve trashed all the prefs, made sure I have permissions fixed. All of my drives are operating fine. Other CS3 software is running fine.

  Totally at a loss. any clues?

  run verify disk from the disk utilities/first aid on the start up drive…

  if you find an error, you will need to run the disk utilities from the osx install disk to repair.

  So was this successful in addressing your I/O error when trying to access your preferences?
