    Hello All,

I’m going to be animating some vines (as in Jayse’s tutorial). The issue I’m having (and forgive me if this belongs in another section I thought I’d start here) is the vines the client wants are at a 30% transparency. So when I cut up the vines into sections, the over lap between a vine and say a leaf that I’ve separated is visible as a hard white line. Is there any way to avoid this without hours of fiddling with individual pixel transparencies?

    Thank you!

Can’t you create it in a precomp at full opacity, and lower the opacity of the precomp layer ?

if the leaves will also be at 30%, just work at 100%, then bring that ‘vine and leaf’ comp into another comp and decrease the opacity of the vine and leaf comp…

but i suppose the leaves are not at 30%… maybe they are 60%. it’s been a while since i’ve seen the tutorial, but i think i would just create everything at 100%. once that’s done, precomp just the vine part. now precomp all the leaves in another precomp. duplicate the vine precomp and move it above the leaves comp, and set the leaves comp to use the vine comp as a track matte. set the opacities as needed.

i think taht should work… if there is a bit of a gap between the leaves and vine, try putting simpler choker on the track matte vine to see if you can get rid of it.

Just to let you know guys… I’m preparing a special CustomEffect, that will allow complex animation like the one you’ve mentioned to be as simple to do as possible, by animating everything for you. Well… maybe not everything, but it will keep the amount of keyframes and the time needed to produce such complex effect at minimum.

I’ve thought it up especially for “growing elements” but it can be used in different animations.

It’s not ready yet, but I think it will be soon.
Oh… and as usual, it will probably be totally free.

How does that sound, huh? 🙂
