  • Rendering issues with display cards…

Posted by Greg Nosaty on January 25, 2011 at 6:43 pm

Lately we have been having rendering problems with both of my suites. We have to disconnect one of the LCD displays in order to render without crashing. It seems to happen most frequently with plugins such as: Magic Bullet Suite, CoreMelt Lock & Load, Furnacore, Keylight and most transitions. The Tiffen filters appear to be okay. The suites clean installed to Snow Leopard with hardware as follows:

    A suite: MacPro 8 core 3.2GHz, 8GB ram, Kona3, ATI Radeon HD 2600 w/256mb, Sonnet Fusion D500p

    B suite: MacPro 4 core 3GHz, Kona LH, Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT W/ 256MB, Sonnet Fusion D500P

Would it help if I upgrade to the graphics cards to the ATI Radeon HD 5770 or the ATI Radeon HD 5870? Should I possibly go with NVIDIA Quadro or GeForce card?

    cheers,

The issue seems to be directly related to the graphics cards. Those plugins rely on the GFX cards to aid in rendering, and when you disconnect one monitor, they work. So replacing the cards with better ones seems the obvious solution.
