  • Quicktime 10 HD video plays back choppy

    Hi guys,

Not sure if I am posting in the right place. Still learning how to navigate. I just recently did a clean re instal and upgraded to snow leopard and Final cut studio 3. I am having a weird issue I have never experienced. When I play back HD video both in Final cut and from the quicktime player in the finder, the video is coming out very choppy and audio and video are out of sync. don’t know why this is happening. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am under the gun ever since I deleted all my movie files. I am desperately trying to re create my jobs. In the words of Saturday Nights Rosanna Rosannadanna “It’s always something” You all are great. Look forward to hearing back

    signed desperate ditz!!!

    Hi Gigi,
I guess you have installed QT 7 (if not, you should).
Set it as your default player.

    RAfael,

Actually, I didn’t install Snow leopard and FCP studio 3 , the apple store did (free install when you buy one to one). So as far as I know either snow leopard or FCP studio instals with Quicktime 10. I never had any issues with Quicktime 7.5. It was flawless. I am not sure if it is still hidden somewhere on this new operating system. if it is, I need a step by step tutorial on how to make that be my default quicktime player. I should probably purchase quicktime pro. I have never actually installed any operating system myself. Call me a coward. I can edit but can’t install. How whimpy is that?
    thanks for your help.

It’s on the Snow Leopard installation disc in a folder called Optional Installs. Here’s a link to Apples own step by step instructions:

    Hi Gigi,
If you are working with FC, you need to install by your self QT 7 (Snow Leopard disk> Extras).
In short, there is not yet a QTX PRO, so without QT 7 you lacks all the Pro functions (Export, editing options, Files Properties Access,..).
At the moment you need both installed.

You’re tad slow on the draw today Rafael.

Must be my new coffee machine that’s giving me the edge…

This new baby is now three steps from my desk and five steps from my edit station. in just fifteen seconds I have a perfect caffeinated beverage ready to slog down.

    thanks guys,

I’m going to put in the disc and install per instructions. BY MYSELF!!!!! I feel like I am finally going to be able to sit at the grown up table. Very inside family analogy that only makes sense probably to me. I’ll let you know how it goes

    Ok,

Installed quicktime 7 from disc. So Now with the two different quicktimes installed 10 and 7 how do I make quicktime 7 the default quicktime. How do I place quicktime 7 in the doc. It sits in disc utility and I can’t figure out how to place it there. god, do I feel stupid posting this probably very Rudemetary question that I SHOULD know the answer to. Need to go back to my basic training on Mac OS. Can EDIT but can’t do basic Mac things. Sad, very sad!!!

thanks. Did it!!! When I open in videos in Quicktime 7 they play great now. WhenI open with quicktime 10, they look pretty bad. Should I just get quicktime 10 off my operating system, or will I screw things up with snow leopard by doing that. I don’t know which quicktime is opening with FCP.
