December 16, 2010 at 3:36 amOpen the file in QuickTime and use the edit dropdown (I think that’s it…I’m on my iPhone right now…to select looping option. Save the file and sync back to ATV. Play it back and it will loop! Hope that’s what you’re lookin for. I use one to show my work at expos and stuff.

Keep in mind the current AppleTV does not store any media on the device it self it is streaming only no syncing.
[Tony Brittan] “Open the file in QuickTime and use the edit dropdown”
I did that and synced it to my ipad and then attempted to stream it to the AppleTV and no looping. I also tried streaming it from iTunes on my mac after your little trick and again no looping.

December 16, 2010 at 4:05 amGood catch Zane! OP was asking about the original ATV. I haven’t a new one yet because I need to be able to keep my video work portable.

December 16, 2010 at 4:10 amI am not in front of my AppleTV but I think you can create a video playlist in iTunes with your video repeated a ridiculous amount of times

Yea, I did pick up that he was talking about the original, I just figured I would clarify it for when people search the forum.

For something like that a Mac MIni might be a better solution.

Both the new and the old version will not recognize video in playlists. Music playlists yes, playlists with video no.

“Actually, if you classify the video as a “music video” you can trick it into working.

December 16, 2010 at 3:04 pmYes, we have several original Apple TVs that we to loop our digital signage.
The trick is that you have to use QuickTime to set the video to loop before you sync it to your ATV.
We use Compressor to convert the video to Apple TV format. We then pull it up in QuickTime, press Command-L to set the looping flag, SAVE IT! then drag it into iTunes to sync.
I seem to recall that some videos gave us problems. We had to tell iTunes to convert them to Apple TV format, then pull the resulting file up in QuickTime to set the looping flag, save it, delete the original out of iTunes, re-import the new looping version, and sync to the ATV.
Yes, it can be a pain, but yes you absolutely CAN get it to work.

September 29, 2011 at 1:51 amTony,
Have you done this on the ATV 1G with exporting a power point to MOV file by chance?
I make a slideshow, setup transitions and times, tell it to loop and export it as a MOV which QT has not troubleplaying…but when I drag to iTunes it never shows up to move to the ATV 1G.
Any thoughts?
