• Adobe After Effects

  .aep is not a valid Win32 application??? HELP

  I can’t open AE saved files. It says:
  .aep is not a valid Win32 application

  I can only open them from within AE. Can anyone explain this? Also my AE saved files have no icon.(.aep)

  It sounds like Windows has forgotten the file association. Right click on the file, then in the fly-out menu, go down to Open With…. If After Effects isn’t an option there, there should be an option to Choose Program… at the bottom. Find your After Effects executable file, check the box that says some like “Always use this program to open this type of file”, and you should be good to go.

  I have the same problem on my computer. I’ve tried doing what you’ve suggested, both by picking AE from the open with menu and choosing the executable from “Choose Program”. But after choosing it, the same error message comes up. Weird really.

  Hi Rob I already tried that. I even went into folder options to see if I could even make the icon a AE icon and that didn’t work either.

  I don’t know what to do. I have the Master collection is there a way to reinstall just AE?

  Figured it out. Had to do complete reinstall. All better.
