exporting issues: URGENT
Posted by Malcolm Desoto on September 28, 2007 at 2:36 pmokay, trying to export a 30 sec spot. No matter what I do, it always stops at some point
I have never had this problem before it is just with this project.
I’ve tried all sorts of settings:
Lossless, half res, Quicktimes, etc.
Is there any way to fix this? I need to have this done in the next few hours.
I have sheer video codecs and Sorenson at my disposal. Is there any way to export a quicktime ref or something to Sorenson and have that do the compressing?
Thanks.

September 28, 2007 at 2:41 pmAlso, is there any way to “flatten” your project? I know of Pre-composing, but just wanted to know if you could some how meld the layers together, like a video mixdown in an editing application.

September 28, 2007 at 2:43 pmNo Chiarman, I set it to export last night and previewed it this morning. IT stopped about one second later than previously.

Would this look alright?

September 28, 2007 at 3:08 pmShould I change my previewing preferences from Adaptive Resolution to Open GL before I render the project? Would that affect it at all?

September 28, 2007 at 3:14 pmhave you tried setting the secret pref to purge frames at a set interval…? if ae has trouble purging the ram cache when it hits the cache limit it will often just quit the render…
to get the secret pref, hold the shift key while selecting any pref (if you’re using a mac hold the mouse button the entire time while selecting the prefer, rather than using multiple clicks). then from the preference selection pulldown, select ‘secret’ (at the bottom). set the purge every xx frames to a number that is bellow where it was quiting/crashing… so if it was quiting at frame 120, set it to purge at 100 or so.

September 28, 2007 at 3:20 pmCan you render to a TIFF/TGA sequence, then when it crashes, render again, but starting from the crash point this time?
It’s a workaround for now.

Thanks for the warning Dave!
