preview settings shouldn’t effect the render settings… in the render settings, you could set the renderer to use opengl for final render… i’m not sure that would help, and it may change things somewhat (opengl renders things a little differently than ae’s render engine). you’ll also be limited to what your graphcis card can render (there are differences in the versions of opengl that are used by various cards).

i would try the purge frame settings in the secret menu, if that doesn’t work, you could try an opengl render.

is this for final delivery or just client approval process?

if needed, the save ram preview is in the composition menu.

Thanks for the suggestion Kevin. This is just for client approval.

I think I’ve found the problem. It’s a little embarrassing. I was looking through all of my layers one by one and discovered that the camera layer was cut short, right around the place the glitch happened.

I didn’t think to check this being that it looked fine when I scrubbed through the timeline.

I’m guessing this is the source of all my woes.

    That would do it.

i can’t say i would recommend using opengl for a final render… there are noticeable differences on how it renders anti aliasing and blending modes compared to the ae render engine. then you throw in the fact that ae’s incorporation of opengl has often lead to instability of the application, it is often just easiest to turn it off, and never look back.

but if you are desperate, i guess its worth a try…

i have actually designed a few projects around opengl accelerated effect and features (almost just to test the benefits of opengl), and i have gotten good results.. and they rendered 4-5 times faster than ae’s engine even with multiprocessing turned on (4-core macpro)… but i like trouble shooting things and occassionally challenging myself on otherwise simple projects.

generally, i set opengl for interactive prviews only, but i won’t hesitate to switch to adaptive resolution if things don’t seem to work right. also worth noting, if you have opengl always on for previews, it will turn off multiprocessing for preivews… likewise if you turn it on for renders. the two are incompatible….

    sigh…

    That’s embarrassing. I don’t know why I didn’t catch that earlier.

    Thanks for all your help.
