Posted by Sebastian Knight on October 31, 2010 at 11:02 pm

I want to have a clip transition from black & white to color. I would like to know how to do this over 2 minutes period.

As always thanks in advance for you reply,

No one will notice if you do the effect over two minutes.

In any case, you can export both a color and B&W version, then cross dissolve between the two. Or, export a color version and keyframe the saturation parameter in one of the color correction filters.

    Hi Sevantian,
The easiest way would be applying any filter where you can bring the Chroma down; then key-framing the Chroma. However this will yield a very poor B&W look.
I would make two versions of the same clip (B&W and full color) and then make a dissolve or keyframe the opacity of the colored one.

Try putting your clip on the timeline, 3-way CC and take saturation all the way down (or whatever BW method you prefer using filters), use the blade tool and split the clip in the middle, then remove the filters on the second half, and put a cross dissolve between the two halves and make the transition as long as you’d like it to be.
