xdcam or dvcam better for greenscreen?
Hi there. Not sure if this is the right forum, but I have a keying question. I’m going to be working on a bunch of greenscreen footage in after effects soon, and I have the choice of working with either xdcam or dvcam. Although I’d usually prefer to work with anything other than dvcam for keying, I see from its specs on the internet that it’s also a 4:1:1 NTSC or 4:2:0 PAL color sampling ratio, which I think is the same as dv. So does anyone out there have any opinions as to whether XDCAM has better color than DVCAM? Just seeing what you all think. Thanks!

which XD cam? Does it have variable frame rates? Can it shoot progressive frames?

My understanding is that, unless you have a specific hardware recorder that recently came out, you are only going to get 4:2:0 from XDCAM. If those are your only choices, workflow should probably be the deciding factor, not color sampling.
If you want 4:2:2, you should try to step up to DVCPRO-50 or DVCPRO HD, both of which are available in the Panasonic HVX200.
